8 Massif Tongariro (New Zealand)
Beautiful day hike, the Tongariro Crossing through remarkable volcanic landscapes of the archipelago. The trek begins with a formidable ascent: a long walk on a lava scree. On reaching the plateau at the foot of Mount Ngauruhoe worrying, you will have the feeling of an unforgettable moment. In good weather, the sun glistening on the azure lakes, Red Crater glows and generates heat. The view is spectacular in this punctuated by volcanic material, mudflows and lava torn place.
There are four shelters hiking on the Tongariro Northern Circuit. More luxurious options are available at Whakapapa Village; book well in advance during high season.

9 Terraces of Pamukkale (Turkey)
Stretching 3 km along a mountain plateau, terraces of Pamukkale, 160 m high, is a marvel of geothermal Meander Valley. Born in seismic activity, these rich calcite mineral springs trickle hillside. Over the centuries, the mass of calcium carbonate and white limestone have solidified and turned into curved basins, perfect for a hot tub in a beautiful setting. Nicknamed "Cotton Castle", the site of Pamukkale suffered from high tourist numbers but remains a marvel of nature.

10 Yellowstone caldera, Wyoming (USA)
The oldest of the country to Yellowstone National Park, is home to a giant caldera, the geysers and fumaroles are the delight of visitors. Seismologists say meanwhile that this volcano of appalling proportions is one of the most dangerous. The caldera of 4000 km2, was born from the collapse of a cone there 600,000 years. Since then, a certain amount of magma is under pressure in the caldera. If detonated, most of North America would be covered in ash and the planet would suffer catastrophic cooling. There are few places that contain such devastating power.
